The Milan Research Unit aims to carry out multidisciplinary research on Prison Shakespeare to study and test how drama workshops can be used as a tool to increase knowledge and awareness in the community on the rights of youth. It will give voice to young vulnerable people by developing multidisciplinary theatre workshops targeting a mixed group of young inmates, youth on probation, and university students. We intend to devise replicable models for repurposing Shakespearean texts as useful educational tools for educators and teachers working with vulnerable young people in IPMs and at universities. This will also heighten the young inmates’ and students’ awareness of issues concerning their rights and duties.
