Podcasting Shakespeare 2025/2026

“Podcasting Shakespeare” is the first podcast created by Literary Soundscapes, Roma Tre’s university radio company dedicated to the rewriting and adaptation of English literary classics.

The company includes students from the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures and is directed by Lucia Esposito and Maddalena Pennacchia (responsible for pre-production and the academic supervision of the rewriting and adaptation), with the collaboration of Andrea Cocco (direction and editing) and Ilaria Diotallevi (acting coach).

The project, originally conceived by Lucia Esposito as an innovative teaching initiative, is produced as part of the “PRIN 2022 – Applied Shakespeare” project, in collaboration with Roma Tre Radio (Marta Perrotta, Director, and Oriella Esposito, Station Manager).

The second series of Podcasting Shakespeare 2025, entitled Romeo e Giulietta – A True Love Crime Story, is a six-episode rewriting of Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo e Giulietta – A True Love Crime Story is a radio drama that reinterprets William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in a contemporary key. Borrowing the mechanisms of crime fiction and intertwining them with the events of Shakespeare's drama, the students of the university radio company Literary Soundscapes wanted to reflect on the complex facets of the original text, reinterpreting its themes in a decidedly innovative way. The text, written by the Company, is the result of an in-depth analysis of the original play, its themes and characters, guided by Professors Lucia Esposito and Maddalena Pennacchia.
